519 last saw service in 2018 and was subsequently withdrawn for overhaul and boiler retube which commenced during 2022. That work has now been abandoned with little progress following the cessation of steam fitting activity at Bulawayo Shed in 2024.

Mike Taylor, writing in the Bulletin of the Friends of the National Railway Museum, Bulawayo reports that work is progressing on the loco and it was almost operational as of January 2016.
