The North British Locomotive Preservation Group Newsletter for January 2023 reports that the loco has been cosmetically restored by Wonder Steam Trains of Pretoria. This historic locomotive was used by the Imperial Military Railways for carrying troops and supplies to Pretoria during the Anglo-Boer War between 1899 and 1902.

Robin R Beck reports that this loco is No.498 but has the 537's number plate.
