First of all Pretoria is not in the Eastern Cape but up north in the old Transvaal.

Port Elizabeth is in the eastern cape .Find a map and see.

Loco no 3664 is a class 24 , is a coal burner and were used mainly on branch lines ( track = 80 lbs / yard) max loads 600tons mixed passenger and goods. They were good steamers, with a boiler working pressure of 200 lbs / squre inch and trouble free locos. Popular with the crews who worked them . They handled easy and had a good turn of speed. There are a few of them still running as tourist atractions of which the most famous one is the Knysna choo choo also in the Eastern Cape about halfway between Cape Town and P E. If you want more techical data onS.A.R.steam locos you can contact me on my e-mail. Used to be a driver on most of them when they were still running. e=mail me at leon.prins@gmail.com
