This locomotive was one of the locomotives that was proposed by North Star Rail to be the one that would be restored for their steam program. However, they could not get the ownership of the engine, and they moved on to other ones before going to 261.

NP Q-3 2152 was unloaded yesterday (10-26-06) at the Northern Pacific Museum in Toppenish and is now spotted on a museum spur track only about 40 feet from the NP (BNSF) Mainline. It had been on display in Auburn since 1958 after donation to the city by the NP.

The city of Auburn wished to divest itself of NP 2152 and sought proposals from various groups that might have been interested in obtaining the locomotive. The locomotive was awarded to the Northern Pacific Railway Museum of Toppenish, WA. The move is planned for late October 2006 after the demolition of a building which is in the way of the movement.

Northern Pacific 4-6-4 No.2152 is a Q3 class passenger locomotive built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1909. it was donated to the city of Auburn and placed in the city park in 1958. Even though it is placed under shelter, it is in very derelict condition.
