The Brecon Mountain Railway is a 1ft 11+3/4 inch narrow gauge heritage railway on the south side of the Brecon Beacons. The line runs from Pant, 3 miles North of Merthyr Tydfil, to Torpantau following part of the route of the original stangard gauge Brecon & Merthyr Railway which was closed in 1964. Today the line operates using American and Europion Steam Locomotives.

The Vale of Rheidol Railway is one of the Great Little Trains of Wales, running between Aberystwyth on the Cambrian coast and Devils Bridge.

The Brecon Mountain Railway runs along the local reservoirs and into the Brecon Beacons National Park using American Steam Locomotives.
