The Leadhills and Wanlockhead Railway is the highest narrow gauge railway in the UK. It runs on the trackbed of the former Leadhills and Wanlockhead Branch of the Caledonian Railway which led off the main line between Carlisle and Glasgow at Elvanfoot. Tho mostly Diesel worked steam does visit and there hope to have there own steam locomotives running soon.
