This is a wonderful site, and a rare exploration of what was once billed as the shortest standard guage railroad in Canada (The Mattagami Railroad). It ran from the Abitibi pulp and paper plant in Smooth Rock Falls On, to Porquis (sp?) Junction, where it joined the CN mainline. I was a young lad in the 1950's, and the Mattagami Railroad ran right by my house. The old 100 was brought into service whenever the GM 50 tonner was down for service. What an unforgetable sight for the townsfolk, as we raced to the tracks to see the old mogul chug and clank its way down the tracks!
