No.87's builder's plate, attached to the girder that carries the loco boiler. Englishman John Cockerill founded the company with his brother, Charles James Cockerill in 1825 as an iron foundry. In 1835 they built the first Belgian built locomotive, 'Le Belge' and continued locomotive manufacturing which continues today.
