The flag men halt the traffic as No 66 hauls a train across Moor Road on the Middleton Railway. July 18th, 2015.

On a visit to the Middleton Railway, Leeds in 2015, No.66 heads across the open crossing of Moor Road. An ungated crossing is rare feature on a preserved railway in the UK, but was once a common sight on industrial railways, with just a man with a red flag to stop the traffic, a feature repeated on this occasion.

The cab of this Hunslet saddle tank loco, the last standard gauge steam loco built in the UK on a commercial basis.

The inside motion of the loco. The left hand slide bars at the top of the photo, then the two valve rods to drive the vertically arranged slide valves, and the right hand side slide bars at the bottom of the photo.

The rest of the inside motion. The eccentrics on the middle axle are on the left of the photo with the eccentric rods in the middle.
