The rear of the bunker as the loco runs light engine at Kidderminster on 13th September 2014. The Great Western provided the loco with every detail it would need - brackets to hold the fire irons and a hook to hold the bottom link of the coupling.

Side view of the loco in 2018. Something of a continuation of GWR pannier tank loco design, but also a break with previous types. Outside cylinders and outside Walschaerts valve gear mark these out as a post war build, intended for stock workings into and out of Paddington.

The most un-Great Western feature of this loco, compared to all that preceded it, is the outside Walschaerts valve gear. Might it have become common on GWR locos had Nationalisation not intervened?
