Photographed in August 2024 the loco has been returned to its appearance when it worked for the Austin Motor Company at Longbridge, Birmingham. Notice the badge of Austin cars on the cab side.

Between the frames of Austin No.1, a typical British inside cylinder layout. here we can see the valve spindles for the slide valves and the slide bars for the right hand cylinder. Very crowded with machinery and awkward for oiling. Still, it's easier to do on a saddle tank loco than on one with side tanks.

Between the frames of Austin No.1 again, this time we can see the crank axle with the eccentrics and eccentric rods for the valves in the middle.
