In the cab of this working loco. Notice the reverser - in mid gear, for the loco was standing at the time of the photo, the clack valves on the boiler backhead and the gauge glasses. Fire's burning nicely.

A look below the boiler shows the middle axle with the left hand connecting rod and big end with the eccentrics for the Stephenson's link valve gear in the middle. The balance weight dominates the centre of the photo.

At the front end of the loco the slide bars for the two inside cylinders can be seen with the two valve tods between them. Notice the oiling points, and the oily nature of the steam loco!
