The boiler pressure gauge, made in Manchester by Schaffer & Budenburg Ltd. A number of engineers of German origin played a role in British engineering - Beyer was German as well, of course.

The well named 'Dot' was used in the works of her makers, the Manchester firm of Beyer Peacock. She looks very similar to the 18" gauge works loco of the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway and the London & North Western Railway, that did a similar job in their workshops. Notice the circular firebox and left hand drive
