The loco in the new workshop on 11th May 2025. It may look as if little progress has been made, but the loco has now got its four driving wheelsets, including the crank axle for the inside cylinder - the second axle. Much work has been done on pipework and electrical wiring to meet 21st century safety standards. In front of the loco, awaiting fitting, is the cylinder block. The boiler is under construction at Meiningen, Germany

The loco's cylinder block. The original was a monoblock casting, but no foundry could be found willing to undertake the complex job. This is a fabricated design made up of smaller castings and steel plate welded to make the cylinder block. The complexity comes from the three cylinders and the Lentz poppet valve gear that will be used.
