Detail photos 6 - the Vulcan Foundry works plate. This works was demolished in 2007 after closure in 2002. A bit of history lost, as the works dated back to Tayleur & Co and from 1832 Robert Stephenson was a partner in the firm which built locos for the Liverpool & Manchester Railway, the World's first inter city railway. It became Vulcan Foundry in 1847.
