A rear three quarter view of this impressive Mikado.

This is one of the better displayed Japanese locos for which we have detailed photos, as you can see in this cab shot of the gauges. Yes, they all have their glass and notice that the boiler pressure is nearly at the maximum. If only it really was.....

Another cab view from the driver's side - left hand drive in the more modern Japanese locos. The brake pressure gauge is prominent and the circular lookout is designed to rotate to shed rainwater.

Not entirely sure what this controls, but the long jointed drive shaft can be seen running from below the cab towards the front of the ashpan on the main photo on the site. Drive seems to come through the cab floor - perhaps a control for a hopper ashpan?
