Such a typically British design from the early 20th Century - a 4-4-0 with inside cylinders, supplied when India was the Jewel in the Crown of the British Empire. Operated by Pakistan Railways following partition in 1947, and gifted by Pakistan to the Museum.

Inside cylinders mean that all the machinery is there. Here we see the two sets of Stephenson link valve gear. Solid, reliable but with fairly poor access for oiling.

The eccentric rods operate rocking levers to transfer the movement to the piston valves sited above the cylinders as you can see in the photo. Notice on the right of the photo the right hand cylinder's slide bars and little end. Also worth noting are the copper pipes for the lubrication system, fed by the sight feed system visible on the top left in the cab interior photo.
