'Lady Madcap' lasted in service until 1952. It was eventually broken up, but some parts remained and have been collected with a view to reviving the locomotive. The frames are new, but some other chassis parts have been added so that one day she may run again, but it's along slow job.

Information sign gives details of the loco's career. The strange sounding name is thought to be derived from a race horse which won the Hurst Park Welter Flat Race on 31st December 1912. An alternative theory is that it is from the title of a 1904 musical by Paul Rubens.
