The London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) Encyclopedia covers the 25 year history of the LNER from its forming during the 1923 Grouping Act of the big four railway companys in Britain to the days of British Railways from 1948. The site has the history and technical information of the LNERs steam locomotives and rolling stock in their glory days to todays survivors in preservation and new builds. A number of the 800 S160 Class 2-8-0s that did work in the UK during the Second World War between 1943 and 1944 which a total of 168 S160s would enter regular service with the LNER which No. 2253 "OMAHA" was one of them. Northern Steam Engineering Limited are a steam locomotive engineering company based at Stockton on Tees who do heavy engineering on overhauls, restorations and new builds. Its where S160 No. 2253 is currently based for overhauls there as her owner is part of the company.

Dartmouth Steam Railway
The Dartmouth Steam Railway, formerly known as the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway, is a 6.7-mile heritage railway on the former Great Western Railway branch line between Paignton and Kingswear in Devon. Much of the business on the line is from summer tourists from the resorts of Torbay, who travel to Kingswear, where the Dartmouth Passenger Ferry takes them across the River Dart to Dartmouth. No. 2253 "OMAHA" is on a 10 year loan to them.
