Re: Locomotive Statuses

There were four locomotives in the database whose status was 'For Sale'. After some research, the statuses for these four locomotives have been amended to reflect their current reality, and thus the For Sale status has disappeared.

Locomotive Statuses

The data displayed by steamlocomotive.info was compiled from a number of lists, and other sources. And each list had unique ways of expressing the current status of each locomotive. For the most part, we automated the incorporation of these lists into our database, and accepted whatever status might...

A Missing Locomotive

Back in the dark ages, say around the year 2002 when I first put steamlocomotive.info together, one of the source lists from which I worked (I think it was the TRAIN list) listed five 20" gauge Porter 0-4-0Ts belonging to the Arizona Copper Co. for its "Coronado RR" as being more or l...

18" Gauge 2-6-0 Added to the Website

An 18" gauge 2-6-0 originally constructed by Oscar Coffman in 1949 had been in the hands of the Meadows & Lake Kathleen RR in Deadwood, Oregon until sometime in the early 2000's. It was acquired by Michael Barth of Black Forest, Colorado, and brought to our attention by Wes Barris, the webm...

H.K. Porter 0-4-0CA from the Pate Museum

H.K. Porter 0-4-0CA No. 57, a compressed air locomotive was owned and displayed by the Pate Museum in Forth Worth, Texas. The museum closed in 2009 and its contents were auctioned in 2010. After chatting with the auctioneer, the best I could determine is that the locomotive was sold to a private ind...

Gas/Mechanical Amusement Park Rides

Just recently, someone complained rather enthusiastically that we had omitted a steam locomotive from our database that appears on steamlocomotive.com's website, and demanded to know why. This is the locomotive in question: http://www.steamlocomotive.com/lists/searchdb.php?str=stolley&country=US...

Bug Hunting

Unlike most websites, steamlocomotive.info is literally more a computer program than a website. The pages you view when you visit the site (with the exception of the Forums, Jeff Terry's Lineside Legacy and the About page) are all generated from information contained in our database a few millisecon...

Content Updates

A fair bit of research continues on the content of our website. Locomotives move, get scrapped, changed status and so forth. You can see some, but not all of the changes we make to the website by clicking on the What's New button on the home page. I wanted to point out some of the data updates takin...
