Locomotives Added

45 locomotives have been added to the database and website, mostly in Spain. This was a result, in part, of discovering a data import error from about 10 years ago that prevented a part of the file for Spain from being processed properly. Added this locomotives manually. Also added the Spanish regio...

Database Cleanup

One of the peculiarities of the data which underlies steamlocomotive.info is that it was imported from James Hefner's Surviving World Steam CD with his permission. The database used by his CD was Microsoft Access and somehow, during the import, spaces were compressed out of existence in certain fiel...

If you use the graphical browser (otherwise called maps) to navigate the site, Kosovo is not available there yet, b...

In the routine which displays a locomotive's Photo Album, a typographical error in the source code caused the font for the Copy...

Wheel Arrangements

Steamlocomotive.info has a feature which allows you to choose how locomotive wheel arrangements will be displayed, whether using the Whyte Classification System, UIC or French Notation. A careful review of the site's capabilities showed that this functionality was broken. A bit of research and codin...

Removed Feature

About 7 years ago, I added a feature to steamlocomotive.info that allowed the website to post a tweet to a Twitter account (@steaminfo1) whenever photos or links were added to a locomotive, and when a locomotive was added or deleted. In seven years, only 42 people followed this particular Twitter fe...

Defective Photo Albums

There are 4157 locomotives in our database which have "Photo Albums". These albums contain additional pictures of the locomotive. Quite by accident I discovered that there were 25 Photo Albums that each had one, single defective entry. When you looked at the album for these locomotives you...

Bug Fix

Weirdly enough, if you searched for locomotives in the UK, you also got locomotives in the Ukraine and vice versa. For some reason, those many years ago, I apparently thought it was a good idea to do a partial match on country name when searching. It wasn't. I fixed it. Sorry 'bout that.
