I spoke with a man who was a lifelong employee at Black River. He told me that 60 was the black sheep of the Great Western. She was the least liked of the crews in Colorado, and whenever there was a slum in traffic, 60 was always the first engine to go in storage. It was mostly due to the fact she was an Alco as opposed to a Baldwin, and she was a Demonstrator of a series of engines that was never produced. So she had some bugs that were never worked out.

#60 is now operational and pulls a good portion of the trains at the BRW. Currently, she is in her Great Western paint scheme with a white smokebox, and white tires on the wheels.

She has been given multiple steam tests and has hauled non-revenue test trains.

60 may have last operated in either 2000 or 2003. 2011 may be the year she comes back to steam. if not, mid october would be the approprite time.

60 is almost done with the restoration that started in 2000. Hopefully it will be running this season. If not then by 2009.
