The railway and therefore the loco would have become part of Finland when it became independent of the rest of Czarist Russia after the revolution of 1917. VR was set up in 1922. The loco was withdrawn in 1928; It is the oldest steam loco in Finland.

This was originally built for the Helsingors - St Petersburg Railway (HSPR) whose No. 9 it is. I have no record of it operating on VR, or have a number.
