The locomotive was originally supplied to Smedjebacken Rolling Mills, Västlandman being given the identity No 6 ‘SMEDJEBACKEN’. This, along with several others on the roster, was replaced in 1951, by diesel power and the engine overhauled by apprentices prior to being given to the ÕSIJ in 1967.
