I fist saw this locomotive as a 5 year old boy in 1948, while on a family vacation. It was located at the "Clinch Park Zoo", in Traverse City, Michigan, as an outdoor display, representing a logging train, and I really liked fell in love with it. I visited it several times after that, until it was removed in 1964. I always wondered what had happened to it, and after I retired I did some research and finally discovered that it was in storage at the Port Huron Museum. I contacted the museum in 2013, and after making arrangements with Doug Bancroft, who at that time was the "Special Project Director", my wife and I were able to get access to see the locomotive. The appearance had changed slightly (re-painted, new wooden cab, etc.), but it was still a thrill to see it again after more than 50 years. I was able to climb up into the cab, bringing back many childhood memories, and took several pictures. Doug also took us to the museum archive area where we were allowed to review the museum file on the locomotive, which included photographs, articles, etc., and I left a picture of my grandfather and I sitting in the locomotive in 1948. We thank Doug and the museum for making this a very enjoyable and special day for us, and we will never forget it.

There is currently a task force working on the feasibility of building a structure to house the D.B. Harrington. It would be just North of the train depot under the Blue Water Bridge.
