The boiler has passed its hydraulic test. Just some fire box studs still to replace due to corrosion damage to cylinders from the many years displayed outdoors. No plans at present to rebuild the loco as an operational engine. Maybe the boiler is to be used powering other exhibits at the museum. When staff are on site, and the main building doors are open this can be seen from Maitland railway station. It is possible to ask to look at there assortment of machinery & vehicles. Very friendly on my visit.

Originally numbered F365. When NSWGR did some renumbering in 1924 the loco became 1042. Ended its working life as a shunter at Cardiff railway works, near Newcastle, NSW in 1973. Was then put on display at the works until 1994 when it was moved near to High Street station, Maitland.

The site was later redeveloped as an information centre. The loco moved a small distance and a shelter was built over it. Attempts to restore the loco have seen it moved to a workshop built on the Steamfest Rally Grounds opposite Maitland station. The workshop is used as a indoor canteen for Steamfest weekend. Not sure if workshop open to the public at other times. This loco may be the only Henry Vale built locomotive remaining.
