The ex LMS 8F 2-8-0 No. 48151, has worked its first mainline steam trips since 2019, a private chater from Carnforth to Carlisle and back via the famous Settle and Carlisle Railway. Given the current situation of West Coast Railway Company’s fleet of BR MK1 Coaches banned on public mainline charter trains until they have central door locking fitted its unknown when No. 48151 will be seen out on the mainline again next??

Stanier's classic eight coupled freight loco was selected as a standard type for wartime construction in the 1940s, and was built in the workshops of other companies during World War 2. This one, however, was built on 'home territory' at Crewe. Currently main line certificated and part of the pool of locos based at Carnforth for workings like the 'Scarborough Spa Express' - pictures in the album of this train.
