This engine (con.no. 5474) was built in 1935 by Kitsons of Leeds, to an earlier Manning Wardle design. She became No.47 in the fleet of Stewarts & Lloyds’ Steel Company, Corby, Northamptonshire. On retirement, in 1969, she was preserved by the Worcester Locomotive Society: first on the Severn Valley Railway, then at Hereford. Since 1993 she has been resident at the South Devon Railway, where she awaits a major overhaul. 19th July 2007
