The ex Woolwich Arsenal, Peckett built E Class 0-4-0ST Works No. 1351 "Lion", is visiting the North Tyneside Steam Railway for the first time for their Steam Gala event on the 5th to 7th of June 2026. Its visit will be a home coming as the locomotive had spent most of its later working life around Tyneside as when it finnished working on the Royal Arsenal’s extensive internal railway system in Woolwich, it was sold to Wallsend Slipway and Engineering Company in 1950 and worked on the quayside by the river Tyne until entering preservation at the Chasewater Railway in 1974. This will be the locomotive’s first visit to another railway since returning from overhaul.
