The locomotive was originally delivered to concrete and construction company Karl Plinke, Hannover (then WEST Germany NOT East!) that in 1961 moved to Quarzwerk, Haltern, West Germany and in 1971, privately to a Mr. Kelsall in Cheshire, UK followed in 1973 by the Bala Lakeside Railway, Wales as their No. 3 followed in 1975 by the Llanberis Lake Railway. It went to the South Tynedale Railway as their No. 14 in 1991.

The former East Germany 1948 Henschel & Sohn built 0-4-0T (Works No. 28035) No. 14 "Helen Kathryn" is now located at her new home at the Lancashire Mining Museum at Astley Green in Lancashire.

The 1948 Henschel & Sohn built 0-4-0T No. 14 "Helen Kathryn" has left the South Tynedale Railway since December 2022 as she has been sold to the Lancashire Mining Museum at Astley Green in Lancashire to be their second resident steam locomotive there.

The Henschel & Sohn built 0-4-0T No. 14 "Helen Kathryn" has also now left the South Tynedale Railway as it has been sold to a new owner in November last year and has relocated to its new home at the Threlkeld Quarry & Mining Museum where it is being overhauled for use their.
