After a number of years of outside storage the former North London Railway 0-6-0T Dock Tank No. 76 (BR No. 58850) is being moved from Horsted Keynes Station for undercover display at Sheffield Park. No. 76 also played a key part in the history of the Bluebell Railway as in its early preservation years No. 76 was hired by contractors to help take up part of the track of the line from Horsted Keynes to Haywards Heath via Ardingly line in 1964 to 1965 when that line closed. Plans are underway for this section of line to be restored for use again to Ardingly soon. No. 76 will have some cosmetic work carried out before going on display in 2023.

This is the sole survivor, not only of a class of 30 locomotives, but of the entire North London Railway locomotive fleet. 14 of the locos were left at nationalisation in 1948 and the last survivors of the class were sent to the Cromford and High Peak line in Derbyshire, far away from their home turf. Here they hauled trains over the tight curves and very fierce gradients of the line until replaced by class J94 saddle tank locos. Withdrawal of this veteran, the last survivor of the class, came in 1960. The loco was then preserved on the Bluebell Railway and has been there ever since.
