This little loco was built at the South Street works of Robert Stephenson and Hawthorns in Newcastle upon Tyne. South Street, or Forth Banks works, was the first purpose-built locomotive works in the world, and the place where 'Locomotion' and 'Rocket' were built.

So, it comes from a works with a great pedigree reaching back to 1823. But that's not its claim to fame. It worked at Castle Donington Power Station until 1990, which makes it the last working steam locomotive in British industry. Mind you, the power station itself only lasted until 1994 and has been demolished.
