The restoration of former London & South Western Railway, Urie built S15 4-6-0 No. 499, has recently stepped up as the locomotive has been moved into the main workshop at Ropley for the next stage and work is progressing on building its new tender tank. It is hoped the locomotive will be completed in 2028.

The remains of ex London & South Western Railway No. 499, BR No. 30499 at Barry Scrapyard in December 1981. The boiler had recently been removed as a spare for no. 30506 which was already preserved at Alresford, Hampshire. The remains of 30499 were later moved there.
