After three years out of service for repairs the ex Courtaulds Ltd, Bristol Peckett built 0-4-0ST No. 2084 "F.C.Tingey" returns to traffic over the Bank Holiday weekend at its Stainmore Railway home.

This particular Peckett has a very high tractive effort for an 0-4-0 and can pull as strongly as much bigger locos - 'Black Fives' for example. However, it's nowhere near as fast!.

The picture shows it in the train shed at Kirkby Stephen East, the headquarters of the Stainmore Railway. This station was on the now closed and lifted trans Pennine route of the South Durham & Lancashire Union Railway and was the point where lines to Tebay and Penrith diverged. This is the eastbound platform and there is a small but interesting display of artefacts from the railway in earlier days in the buildings.
