As of 2012 the shay is completely operational and Painted up in Bucksgahuda and Western paint on the right side and on the left we painted St.Marys South Western RR to commemorate the St.MSW roadbed we operate on through our camp branch. The shay is successful. operates off of Diesel from a burner in the smoke box and the valve gear and cylinders are off of an old sawmill in Maine. -Tyler Fenderson A B&W volunteer

This engine had the boiler replaced in 2009. It is oil fired and continues to operate on the original frame. Some issues were encountered with the bevel gears and jack shaft. The crank and connecting rod bearings were repoured and lapped this summer (2011). It will be operating for Railroaders day on September 18, 2011.

This RR (owned by the Bauers) recently built a new Shay from the old parts of this one. It was sort of a shoddy job I understand when originally built, but it sure looks good now. There was a short bit on RYPN about it, and you can also see a few shots on the B&W site before it was painted. It will probably be updated again soon.
