Achim has given us some details of history of the loco: Having been built for the Royal Prussian Railways in Class G8, it was operated in Germany until 1919. It moved then to France, presumably as war reparations and was operated by the Chemins de fer du Nord until 1938. Then it seems to have been in Syria with Chemin de fer Damascus - Hamah until 1944 when it moved to Turkey with TCDD.

44059 is no longer at the old Çankiri shed unless it has been moved to the modern shed then it has been scrapped The old shed only has 44017, 45153 and 56369
