This is the first of 22 locomotives actually built for RENFE 1942-1946 and first numbered 151-5001 to 5022, this originally being No. 151-5001. They did not last too long in this guise and were renumbered 151-3101 to 3122. Originally they worked coal trains from Ponferrada to the coast at La Coruña, later being transferred to Leon, and at one time were regarded as the most powerful steam locomotives in Europe.
