One of ten locatives built by Andre Koechlin, Mulhouse (prior to becoming part of Societe Alsacienne) for the Memphis, El Paso and Pacific Railway as their Nos. 1 - 10 with construction numbers 1253 - 1262, and to be named after American rivers, I.e. (No. 1 Mississippi River and No. 2 White River) that was bankrupted prior to delivery. Five were purchased by various Spannish railways, PERRUCA going to the Asturias, Galicia and Leon Railway which was amalgamated into the Northern Railway (Norte), the locomotive being numbered their No. 1653 in 1890 and only subsequently, from 1941, became RENFE No. 030-2110 retaining it’s name in preservation.
