Its been reported that the ex War Department and Hellanic State Railways Dub Dee Austerity 2-10-0 No. AB962 is having some cosmetic restoration carried out by railfans and volunteers from the near by Drama Railway Museum.

The locomotive was still in (secure) storeage inside Drama shed/museum in September 2019, obtainable images will shortly appear on the site. Whilst it is possible that sister locomotive No. 964 was behind No. 962 in the shed, this could not be observed either way due to lack of access, as was the case in Thessaloniki depot where it may also be stored.

In June 2015 I have seen both 962 and 964 in a shed in Drama. Both in good condition. But the roof of the shed broke down and so the condition will be not the same, when I visit Drama this August again. So if somebody will repatriate one of these two machines it has to be soon. Because of the dramatical finance situation of greece and the greece railway no one spends money for the little lovely railway museum in Drama kept by several former rail workers of Drama. In the Shed there are also two CIWL cars. There are some fotos from 2015 on demand. This year I hope to be able to make some aktual photos, but the greek people are not very friendly to german people in these times. 2015 it was only luck, that somebody let my in the shed to take photos.

AB 962 is the second Dub Dee Austerity 2-10-0 that use to work the steam hauled tourist trains on the branch to Drama as well. Like AB 964 AB 962 is also in storage at Thessaloniki depot. Both WD 2-10-0s out there are facing the possibility they may never run again out there. Any possibility that this locomotive or AB 964 will be a caudate to be repatriated back home to the UK one day?
