Status, stored (as of March 2018). Location, private site in Nikko, Tochigi, Japan (specific location undisclosed). The locomotive was moved to its current location around 2013, and (in the latest photograph I was able to find of it) is stored outside wrapped in a tarpaulin.

Status should be changed to Display. Location, Tobu World Square, Nikko, Tochigi, Japan. Has been there since 2017.

Unfortunately, the Western Village in Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture in Japan has closed down and the Waipahu is sitting in an enclosed shed subject to vandalism and theft. Hope someone repatriates her back to USA or her home rails in Hawaii.

This loco's previous history (up to 1988) is: delivered new to Oahu Sugar Co., Waipahu, as No. 1 WAIPAHU, 08/1957 to J. Dale Gentry, Old Woman Spring, CA, 02/1975 to George Cordingly at Roaring Camp & Big Tree RR, Felton, CA as No. 4 WAIPAHU. (EW 56,600, WOD 49,100, DD 33, TE 7400, BP 125, CYL 12x16, F oil).
