SP 2467 ran out of flue time the same year her sister, The SP 2472, ran out of flue time in 2003. The Golden Gate Railroad Museum moved to Niles Canyon. The SP 2472 is in Niles Canyon because the Golden Gate Railroad Museum needs a location to store they're rolling stock. Until Niles Canyon has the right shop facilities, the SP 2467 is staying in Sacramento on display.

The engine was operating for the first time since it was retired in 1999. It attended Railfair '99 on it's first public outing. It's flue time ran out in 2005 and is now on loan for display at the California State Railroad Museum it will be returning to the Golden Gate Railroad Museum soon.

Locomotive is stored, pending the securing of indoor storage/display at what I will leave an undisclosed location. There are no immediate plans to perform a Form 4 on it due to reasons of economics. The Pacific Locomotive Association (its owners) is busy running their own railroad in Niles Canyon. The 2467 will not be moved there.

I think the reason this engine isnt at Niles Canyon is due to they are not connected to "live rail" yet.  When this happens and funds are availible the other locomotives (Pickering #12 and #5, Clover Valley #4) will be moved finally to Niles Canyon for eventual use.  As for being too heavy, the SP used the Niles Canyon line for its heavy cab forwards heading out over the Suisin bridge and out to Donner Pass and on through to Utah.  So I don't think that would be a problem.  Then again I don't know too much about the Niles Canyon line.

This locomotive was acquired by the Pacific Locomotive Association in 1990.  It was restored to operation in 1999 and participated in Railfair '99.  It was reputedly too heavy for use on the PLA's Niles Canyon Railway in Sunol, so it remained in Oakland until being moved to San Francisco.  I believe it is now either loaned or leased to the Golden Gate Railroad Museum (the PLA's website still lists it on their roster).

Locomotive #2467 is operational but the Golden Gate Railroad Museum needs to raise 100K to have full permision for further operations.  After this engines brother (SP #2472) is back in operation the Golden Gate Railroad Museum will start working on the funds for boiler retubing on SP#2467.  Then The Museum will have full permision to run both SP Pacfic locomotives down the Cal Train line.  Hopefully the Golden Gate Railroad museum will have both engines running by Christmas of 2004.

That photo was taken in San Francisco, CA, at the Golden Gate Railroad Museum, where the 2467 has been since Nov. 1, 2001.
