Renumbered from 1274 in 1956 to make room for new diesels. Assigned to Lines west of Armstrong prior to 1956. Later to Cochrane, Ontario. Retired at the end of 1959 at Limoilou (Quebec City.)

The former Canadian National Railways 4-6-0 No. 1521 has moved to a new home at the Middleton Railway Museum in the town of Middleton in Nova Scotia where it will be restored for display there.

In 1965 this locomotive was moved to the Ontario Science Centre before changing hands again in 1969 when it was sold to a private owner in Michigan (Fred Steck) 1989 saw the train moved to Upper Clements, Nova Scotia, to be displayed in a park.
