On September 1st, 2022, the Oregon Rail Heritage Center in Portland, Oregon, announced that it would be the new owner of Mt. Emily Lumber Co. Shay No. 1. The locomotive should be moved from Prineville to Portland reasonably soon.

this shay is oil burner just so you know and and operated at Cass for 20 years

1994 - Leased by Oregon Historical Society to City of Prineville Railway. Re-painted and numbered back to Mount Emily Lumber Co. #1. Sold to Independence Logging Co in September 1923. Sold to Mount Emily Lumber Co. in 1928. While leased to State Of W.VA. she was Cass Scenic Rr #3.
