Originally Sächesische Staatsbahn No. 171, it became DRG No. 99 582 from 1925, running through to 1949, then with DR firstly in that identity, later No. 99 1582 the computerised as 99 1582-8, finally becoming No. 099 708-0 when DB took over in 1992. Later that year it moved to Schönheide; it had a new boiler at Meiningen in 1999 and since then has been a ‘guest’ at several locations in Sächsen.

DB(Sächsische) No. 99.718(Ex DR no 99.1582) at Kemmlitz while still active on freight work for German State Railways, based at Mugeln depot on 29 July 1991.
