This unique tram-locomotive entered service with the Sächsische Staatsbahn as No. 252, which it now again bears, and in 1925 became DRG No. 99 162 through to 1949, then DR until retirement in 1964. It was a a museumslok in Dresden from 1971 and, for a couple of months at Nordhausen in 1999 (see album images) before being based at Oberheinsdorf.

This rare and interesting loco is a Fairlie type with a double ended boiler and central firebox. The cylinders are at the inner ends of the power bogies, not the outer ends as on the Ffestiniog Railway's Fairlies, which is more like a Saxon Meyer.
