Originally Sächsische Staatsbahn as No. 135; from 1925 as DRG No. 99 542 through to 1949, when it became DR, then 99 1542-2 until near the end of 1991, and has been at Jöhstadt since then.

As part of the celebrations of 110 years of the 750mm gauge Cranzahl to Oberwiesenthal line in Saxony, Meyer tanks nos. 99 1542-2 and 99 1608-1 leave Cranzahl with the 15.48 to Oberwiesenthal on 19 July 1997. No. 1542 is preserved on the nearby Pressnitztalbahn (Jöhstadt-Schmalzgrube-Steinbach) line, and the inscription on its side tank sends the Pressnitztalbahn’s good wishes for the 100th anniversary of the Cranzahl - Oberwiesenthal line.
