Originally delivered to the DRG as Kriegslok No. 52 3455, it continued in this identity with the occupying SBZ 1945-1949, and from then with the ‘new’ DR, until it was re-built (probably at RAW Stendal) with a more powerful boiler 1958-1962 and emerged as No. 52 8044. It left service at the end of 1993, being ‘saved’ by B Falz (the German ‘Dai Woodham’ and initially being placed in the sidings at Basdorf before being moved into his collection in the former freight depot of Bw Falkenberg.

The builder is Krauss-Maffei and remains at Falkenberg, though not necessarily on display.
