This locomotive was originally to be built as BLW 15809 but, due to pertaining technical difficulties the work went instead to Henschel and was delivered in 03/1944 to the DRB - Deutsche Reichsbahn as No. 52 712 and later joined the DR - Deutsche Reichsbahn in the same identity within the newly created GDR. It was called in late 1961 into Raw Stendal for reconstruction with a combustion chamber boiler (Raw Halberstadt 216/1961), mixing preheater type IfS/DR and axle bearing adjusting wedges, emerging from here as No. 52 8037; being computerised in 1970 as No. 52 8037-5, running until 05/1988 though remaining on the books until after the 1991 DB/DR utilisation merger from 01/1992 as 052 037-9, after which it was withdrawn from Bw Hoyerswera a short time later. It then went to the EBG - Eisenbahn-Betriebs-Gesellschaft mbH, Borchen and in 1999 to DEW - Dampfeisenbahn Weserbergland e. V., Rinteln, followed in 2003 to the WAB - Westfälische Almetalbahn GmbH, Altenbeken and, in 2007 to the Bernd Falz Collection, Steam Locomotive Museum Falkenberg (Elster) and where it was stored in 2007.
