Further to my note yesterday, KM did in fact complete the locomotive as No. 50.481, but when DR revised (Rekolok) it 1957, presumably to No. 50 3502-7, LKM gave it their own build number, as it appears they did with subsequent members of the class, in this case No. 151004. So I suppose if the file it now needs to be recorded as both KM15832; LKM151004. Apologies for making more work for Steve!

My note of January 26, 2022 was only partiaolly correct! Only the original boiler was Krauss-Maffei No. 15832/1940, which presumably due to the circumstances then pertaining, it was unable to complete the locomotive but it woul appear the the boiler was ‘recovered’ following WW2, hence the later confusion. The eventual builder was in fact LKM No. 151004/1957 for DR, originally as No. 50 481. It became Rekolok No. 50 3502-7 before being converted to a oil burners, then as No. 50 0072-4, now believed to be un-operational at BEM. It seems that other sites mistakenly quote boiler builders and numbers as complete locomotive build numbers!

Thanks, Brian. I think I will avoid the European numbers for now.

Originally delivered to the DRG as Kreislok No. 50 481; by SBZ (occupying forces) from late 1945 and DR in 1949. As a Rekolok, it was first re-numbered to 50 3502 before being converted to an oil burner as No. 50 0072, finishing it’s working life at Bw Görlitzin in 1991. From here it went to the BEM and May have been restored to working order, being noted in Aw Meiningen during 1998/9.
