The engine was delivered in 1928 as new loco to the quarry of Steinwerke Metzner, Dubring at Wittichenau near Hoyerswerda, where works no. 11911, 11912, 11914 where in use as well. The service ended around 1970 and the engine was already on the scrap line. In 1973 the city museum of Hoyerswerda was interested in preserving one of the remaining engines and finally bought No. 11918, which was completed with parts of the other scrapped engines (at least that is the story, I didnt find any evidence for that) In 1989 the Waldeisenbahn Club managed to get the loco as a long time loan. The engine is only in rolling condition, as it has only 50 HP it would not be powerful enough for our service. However it was our first steam engine and is in the permanent exhibition at Weißwasser. The engine was always in private ownership and had no connection to the DR.

Previously Hoyerwerda Eisenbahn No. 5, through Steelworks Dubring which in 1973 went to Hoyerwerda Stadt Museum and, in 1989, to the WEM at Bad Muskau, where it was in 1995. It is believed to never had connections or run for the DR. Sven Schlenkrich may be able to provide detailed history.
